The Team
John Olssen is a forester by profession, of latter years a business management consultant, and now involved in the management of the business on a full time basis.

Heather McPherson is a registered nurse, latterly managing various community health organisations, but since 1997 has been responsible for the management of the business and wine marketing for Olssens.

Karen Olssen joined the team as our viticulturist in 1996, returning from Australia and adding viticulture and oenology to her BSc. Karen then returned to Australia in January 2008 and we engaged Grant Rolston and his "Vinewise" contracting team to manage vineyard operations.

Karen proudly displays three "Mike Wolter Trophies" for production of the country's best Pinot Noir grapes at the 1999, 2000 and 2008 National Bragato conferences.


The Winemaker
Jennifer Parr comes to us from the United States and having been our Assistant Winemaker previously, brings an intimate knowledge of the vineyard and the fruit to the management of the winemaking process.

Jennifer has a BA from the prestigious Stanford University, plus a Certificate in French Wines . She has completed vintages in Oregon, Napa Valley, South Africa, Australia, France, Hawkes Bay, Waipara and more recently, Central Otago. Jen brings a very well developed palate and a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the art of winemaking.

The team also includes our Office Manager, Nalda Williams, and Winsome Blair and Natalie Franklin in the cellar door and many of you will have seen their smiling faces or listened to their cheerful voices when visiting or ordering wine.
